Dialysis

by Lim Yew Ping Peter

It  is  a  pity  that  many  people  are  on  dialysis.
Doctors  and  medical  scientists  will  agree
that  no  one  has  ever  invented  a  " wonder  pill ",
just  to  heal  not  to  kill.
Till  then ,  we  can  discard  the  expensive  dialysis  machines.
Twice  or  thrice  a  week,  needles  prick  kidney  patients'  skins.
Bloody  tubes  are  common  scenes  in  many  dialysis  centres,
to  clear  them  of   unwanted  impurities.

Patience,  tolerance,  endurance  and  perseverance  they  have  to  bear.
Not  only  their  spouses,  parents,  siblings,  relatives  and  friends  care,
dreams  of  being  healthy  and  having  tasteful  meals  they  won't  dare.
Anxiety  and  stress  prevail  within  the  families  involved.
Life-time  savings  and  funds  will  eventually  be  wiped   out.
Yet,  greatest  hope  is  always  within  their  minds  and  hearts.
Praying  for  a  miraculous  turn  of  events  to  happen
that  donors  may  present  them  with  new  leases  of  lives.
